Sharon Lurie – Turning Kosher Meat (and all food) into Gold

sharon lurie bookWe are privileged to have Sharon Lurie, author of the renowned Butcher’s Wife Cookbook series, join us on Culinary Kosher.   Sharon resides in South Africa where she learned the meat business the hard way, from her husband the butcher.  Over the years  as the men were “moving meat” and leaving little meat for her, Sharon did the best with what she had and became very creative after studying and understanding the texture and flavor of every ounce of meat inside and out.  In the process she became a wellspring of good ideas and recipes for the customers of the family business.  This led to here first celebrated cookbook Cooking with the Kosher Butcher’s Wife.

After its great success Sharon embarked on a new project broadening her horizons to a wide variety of foods.  This led to her recent hit book, Celebrating with the Kosher Butcher’s Wife where Sharon goes all out showing her talent with dishes like Thai fishballs and chopped liver in choux pastry puffs.   All this is done with vibrant photographs and great humor and fun.
