1  Yom Tov/Holidays / Shabbos / Shabbos Menu on: January 24, 2012, 01:52:33 PM
Sometimes I get bored of making the same things for Shabbos, but there are certain things I have to make every week otherwise it doesn't feel like Shabbos.  I always make challah, gefilte fish, chicken soup, potato kugel and cholent.  Those are the staples.  The rest I play around with. Do you consider your self a traditionalist or do you make whatever you are in the mood for? Can it be Shabbos for you without chicken soup?

7  Yom Tov/Holidays / Chanukah / Do I need a Chanukah related main dish for Chanukah Party? on: December 22, 2011, 07:56:48 AM
I am making a Chanuka party for the extended family with lots of kids.  I have all the theme dishes down pat like latkes and doughnuts etc.  What about main dish?  Do I need a Chanukah theme or is main dish exempt from the theme?  Truth is it can be milchig or fleishig since everything else is pareve.
