Cutting Boards That Almost Cut It
Cross contamination is a hot topic nowadays. Nowhere does this become a bigger problem than on the cutting board where the rough handling of foods with a sharp knife take its toll on the poor board. All kinds of tastes and residue are left in the board so having separate boards for different foods including meat, fish, vegetable, and cooked foods is all the rage.
Joseph Joseph came up with another innovative and stylish item to solve the problem. They created IndexTM a multi-award-winning chopping board categorization system. The stylish storage case contains four individual chopping boards and is compact for easy storage without cluttering up your drawers, cabinets, or counters. Each board is color-coded and has its own illustrated tab, indicating which food type it should be used for. Joseph must have some Jewish roots as this board set is perfect for meat and dairy.
The boards are dishwasher safe which is great. The are a few things preventing us from giving it our top rating. First the size is not that large at 13 x 9.5 x 2.5 inches. Second people have reported that the surface cuts too easily leaving you with a scuffed up board pretty quickly. Lastly it is no great bargain at $65 (free shipping).
So in our final analysis we say that for the serious chef with a high quality set of knives the idea is great but it may be worth waiting to find a better implementation. For the casual chef who think this perfect and just must have it, you can buy the cutting board by clicking here.
