Levana, Kosher Cooking's Renaissance Woman
We all know Levana Kirschenbaum from her legendary kosher upscale restaurant that graced the Upper West Side for over thirty years. Levana served gourmet dishes that defied imagination. But Levana is far more than a successful restaurateur. In fact when it comes to comes to food there is little that Levana doesn't do. She is not only a top notch chef with incredible kosher recipes but also a remarkable entrepreneur.

Has Levana gone into hibernation without her restaurant? Far from it! She has opened up new vistas to her glorious career. Did you know that Levana delivers hundreds of meals weekly, on request, to kosher guests dining at non-kosher restaurants and hotels? I wish I knew about it as my poor husband sat through many meetings sipping Coke after Coke while his colleagues ate four course meals.

And no we are not talking about packaged airline food here. We are talking about food that makes the restaurant's guests want to convert to Judaism and eat Levana's meals rather than what they are being served! 4 Seasons Restaurant, City Hall Restaurant, New York Yacht Club, you name it.

Add to that cooking classes and demos throughout the country, a couple of beautiful recipe books packed with so much more than recipes (and another on the way), and you have not a mere chef but Kosher Cooking's Renaissance Woman.

And now you have another place you can see her. Right here on Culinary Kosher where Levana has honored us by opening her very own recipe box.  Levana's first recipe is brisket in sweet and sour sauce can be see by clicking here.

For those of you who want all Levana all the time you can go to her website www.levanacooks.com  and indulge yourself. But of course a woman of Levana's stature has more than one site so you can also check out www.levanadesserts.com
