There are many things that the Jewish consumer misses out, on especially when it comes to food. But eventually as we become more sophisticated as a community we get what we truly deserve.
Take fine wine for example. Years ago Frum people had no idea what Merlot or Chardonnay were. All we knew was from different color Concords and Malagas. Today kosher wineries boast some of the finest wines on the market.
So when it came to food magazines it was no wonder that Jewish homes often boasted publications like Bon Appetit, even if you couldn't eat half or more of the recipes that appeared. Nor did it cater to our seasonal needs or our cooking styles or the issues that we grapple with in our Kosher homes.
Recently a new world class food magazine, Bitayavon, catering to the Frum cook hit the news stands. Its name and its beautiful glossy magazine conjure up images of Bon Appetit. Open it up and you will not only have mouth watering recipes, but also a host of great features. Shabbos in two and a half hours sounds good to me! There are also great nostalgic articles as well as health tips and other fun things.
We think this one is a keeper and we are honored that Bitayavon has opened up a recipe box on Culinary Kosher to share some of their recipes. This week are privileged to have two great looking sandwiches (Mango Pesto Sandwich and Bahn Mi Sandwich) and a tiramisu as well as some accessory recipes. Take a look, and for dozens more great recipes, don't forget to pick up your copy of Bitayavon today.
Bitayavon not only has a magazine, but also their own website at www.bitayavon.com. You can also follow them on their facebook page www.facebook.com/bitayavonmagazine for fun, news, and prizes!
