This recipe is not only delicious, if is the perfect side dish for Purim. It is shaped like a hamantaschen and I try to make it every year for the seudah. There are never any left. Serve with a dipping sauce. Can be served as a side dish or as an appetizer.

what size circles to cut from the malawah? can one use regular puff pastry instead?
judyrebacz, 2011-02-22
I never tried it with puff pastry but I think it could work. I use the top of a glass to cut the circles.

when you pinch the ends, you create a bottom and three sides so how to you fry? (unless you mean pinch ends and flatten?)

how long do u leave to defrost before cutting into circles? is the dough very sticky to work with?
pippa, 2012-02-26
I am not sure exactly how long the dough needs to defrost. The dough should not be sticky. If you find it too sticky then put it back in the refrigerator for a little bit.

What did you use, if anything, to keep it from opening when you fried them?
