A wonderful soup that is not overly heavy. There was plenty of chicken for everyone, and I love the barley.
1 onion, diced
4 pieces of chicken
18 cups of water
3/4 cup barley
4 carrots, diced
3 stalks celery, diced
2 potatoes, diced
1 Tbsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

This recipe is almost the same as published this week in Family First. In your recipe, what do you do with the chicken pieces that you cut in small pieces? And, what pieces of chicken do you use - whites, darks, legs, wings??? Aside from the fact that I can't find celery (shmita problem), the recipe sounds great.

I also noticed that. You dont have to use celery but you can find it in the shuk (if that is close to you). I used 4 pieces of chicken bottoms. It really is a great recipe.
