Tastes Like Egg Challah But Is Really Healthy Water Challah regular Flour Whole Wheat Or Mixed
When I was starting out making challah, my sister in law, a veteran challah maker, gave me this "begginer" recipe with less ingredients so that if I botched up the batch, it would not cost too much.
Now that I am married, my husband, a calorie, sodium, cholesterol conscious person, loved this recipe because it tastes like regular challah but has no egg!
Every week I make 2 batches: regular flour for me and the kids, and complete whole wheat for my husband. Feel free to experiment to see how you like it!
Part 1:
3 pkgs dry yeast
2.5 cups warm water
1 tbs sugar (or splenda)

Part 2:
3/4 c warm water
1/2 c oil
1.5 - 2 c sugar, depending on how sugary you like it (I use 1/2 sugar, 1/2 splenda)
1 tbsp salt
4 c flour

Part 3:
4c flour

Servings (2 large or 4 medium small challahs)   recalculate
